New Release! THE BADGE BUNNIES SERIES!

You can now get all the books in my bestselling THE BADGE BUNNIES SERIES all in a complete set! It's all about women who have a thing for hot and sexy cops. There are five books in the first volume of the series, including two m/f/m ménages and one f/f/m. They're still available individually in ebook, but they were so wildly popular, I decided to release them in a complete set, which is available in ebook or print!

In the first book, SEDUCING OFFICER BARLOWE, a sexy stranded motorist gets roadside assistance and a whole lot more from a very hunky cop.

The title of the second book, TWO COPS, A GIRL AND A PAIR OF HANDCUFFS, kinda says it all, but if you haven't guessed, it's a hot cop ménage with two guys who come with their own handcuffs and a girl who can't wait to get busy with them both.

The third book, A COP, HIS WIFE AND HER BEST FRIEND, is also a ménage, but I wanted to do something a little different, so I did f/f/m instead of my usual m/f/m. And I gotta say, I had fun with it! While it's still mostly about the guy and the two girls, there are a few sexy surprises. Along with handcuffs and some yummy spankings!

The fourth book RIDE-ALONG is a smokin' hot ménage with two gorgeous cops and one very sexy reporter who has a thing for men in uniform, so it's a dream come true when her newspaper sends her on a ride-along with San Francisco's finest.

The fifth book, HANDS-ON TRAINING is about a hunky Texas State Trooper who gives a very lucky woman some private lessons on how to properly use a weapon.

Favorite Things About the South

Summer is upon us, at least down here in Alabama where the temperature is heating up. Hot weather reminds me of a hotter book of mine, CAN’T FAKE THIS from Loose, id.

CAN’T FAKE THIS is about a divorcee ready to reenter the dating world. Anna Ryan is determined to be the best “product on the market,” which requires a lot more experience so she propositions sexy police officer Chase Harris to teach her how to make hot, passionate love as opposed to just having sex. He takes it a step further, instructing each lesson based on The Twelve Days of Christmas.
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me…temptation in a hot package. For more, check out the book trailer and excerpt!

The story definitely has my “Sexy, Sassy & Southern” trademark so in honor of the hotness of CAN'T FAKE THIS and the hot weather we're having down South, I’ve put together my list of Top 10 Favorite Things about the South.

1. Sweet tea and sweeter accents
2. Macaroni & cheese is a vegetable and pecan pie is a staple
3. Y'all is a proper noun
4. Smocked dresses and hairbows as big as a little girl's head
5. Front porches are wide and words are long
6. Sultry summer nights that start in April
7. Mardi Gras. Enough said.
8. SEC football. (Roll Tide!)
9. Pageants are serious business
10. Everything is darlin' and someone's heart is always blessed

So what are your favorite things about where you live? I hope you’ll take advantage of the uniqueness of your area and enjoy it, no matter where you hail.

As always, thanks for stopping by.

The Pepper O'Malley Chronicles: Part 2 Rejection

"I got goose bumps thinking about the icy cold fish wiggling between my thighs even if they were dead fish," says Pepper O'Malley in Naked Sushi, my upcoming Harlequin/Cosmo Red Hot Read (Oct 2013),

Naked Sushi is about more than dead fish.

It's the story of a smart working girl who is trapped by her own fear of rejection. Pepper is a computer whiz, adventurous, and has all the right moves, but she keeps sabotaging her efforts to get the job she really wants.

Does that sound familiar?

All of us fear rejection, which is why we put off finishing that manuscript or sending it in until we do one more polish that is never enough. I know. I've been there. I learned that writing may be a solitary job, but publishing is a team effort. No matter how good your manuscript is, it will remain a lonely .doc file on your computer unless you press that Send button.

Like Pepper, I started in the world of video games, playing with the boys, so to speak. No one wanted to hire women, but somehow I got the job. I learned how to write interactive games, which has since helped me in writing novels. Keeping all the balls, that is story points, in the air and tying up all the ends to give the player, and now the reader, a satisfying ending.

It's not all dark chocolate truffle delights. You will get rejected.

I have. For lots of reasons. But I never stop trying. Never will. It's in my DNA. That's why writing Pepper was so important to me. I wanted to show that we have to get to the root of our fears, as Pepper does, and sometimes that means opening up and letting it all hang out. Talking about it with a good friend or the hero in your life helps...so does writing in a journal.

It's good for your soul.

And your story.

You'd be surprised what you'll find out about yourself.

A Wonderful Birthday GIft!

I can FINALLY reveal the cover for my upcoming romantic suspence release from Entangled Publishing's Entangled Suspense line! You have no idea how I've been dy-ing to show it!

Secrets and Sins: Gabriel is the first book in a four-book series from Entangled Suspense, and I have to admit...I am in love with this book. It's a "first" for me in a couple of ways. It's my first book that isn't erotic. It's sensual, definitely, but less, uh, explicit than my previous books.
But the emotion, the tragic hero and strong, independent heroine and secondary characters I fell in love with maek up for the naughty words I had to dial back on. :D

Also, it's my first true, bona-fide romantic suspense. I've had books with suspense elements, but Gabriel has a strong suspense plot running alongside the beautiful, romance. I'm so excited about its release! And did I mention the release date is on my birthday? Yes! June 24th! What an awesome birthday gift! *hint! hint! nudge! nudge!*

Blurb

New Release! STOP OR I'LL SPANK!

So excited about my new release STOP OR I'LL SPANK, the sequel to my hot sexy Bestselling suspense THE GIRL WHO CRIED WOLF! It picks up where that book left off, featuring no-nonsense cop Dylan Sinclair and his girlfriend Brynn Foster!
In this sequel to THE GIRL WHO CRIED WOLF, Brynn Foster decides to stick her nose into the murder case her boyfriend, San Francisco Police Inspector Dylan Sinclair is investigating.

Dylan shouldn’t be surprised. Brynn is always getting into trouble for doing things she shouldn’t. Whether it’s for inviting Dylan’s sister and her boyfriend over to dinner without telling him, or for painting the living room a color she knows he won’t like, she does what she wants, even if she ends up over his knee for a sound spanking.

But this investigation is more dangerous than redecorating their apartment. A man is dead, and if she isn’t careful, a spanking is going to be the least of her troubles.

Excerpt:

By the time Kat and Reese left, Brynn was congratulating herself on how well the evening had gone. Not only were Dylan and his sister back on good terms, but the cold war between the two men was finally over. She didn’t know what had transpired while she and Kat had been in the kitchen getting dessert, and she didn’t care. As far as she was concerned, it was all good.

But when she closed the door behind the other couple and turned to face her boyfriend, Dylan was standing there with his arms folded across his broad chest and a scowl on his handsome face. He wasn’t seriously going to be mad at her for inviting Kat and Reese over, was he?

Brynn sighed. “I know what you’re going to say.”

He arched a brow. “Really?”

“Yes. You’re going to say I shouldn’t have invited Kat and Reese over for dinner without telling you first.”

“A little heads-up would have been nice.”

“I know. And I’m sorry.” She sidled over to loop her arms around his neck. When he didn’t wrap his around her, she gave him a pout. “Honey, if I told you I wanted to invite them to dinner, you would have said no.”

“You’re right. I probably would have. But you still should have asked me.”

She caught her bottom lip between her teeth and gave him a contrite look. “I said I was sorry.”

His green eyes deepened in color, becoming more emerald. “And I forgive you. But I’m still going to make sure you don’t pull a stunt like that again.”

Pull a stunt like that again? What was she, twelve? Brynn laughed. “And how exactly are you going to do that?”

His mouth quirked. “I’m going to spank you.”

Brynn’s eyes went wide. Was he for real?

She opened her mouth to ask, but Dylan had already sat down on the couch and was guiding her over his knee. She placed her hands on the carpeted floor to get her balance, but she needn’t have worried. Dylan’s strong hand on her back kept her from going anywhere, including pushing herself up from his lap.

She craned her neck to look over her shoulder at him. “Honey, seriously?”

“Seriously. A good spanking will make you think twice before you do something like this again.”

Brynn blinked. Dylan had spanked her a lot of times, but it had always been sexual. He’d never done it to punish her. That was completely different, and she wasn’t sure what she thought of it. Before she could protest, her boyfriend brought his hand down on her upturned ass with a resounding smack.

Freebies!

One of the more onerous promotional opportunities for authors is creating free reads, usually short pieces of fiction designed to introduce readers to our style, or possibly present a teaser for a series. Just in case you're interested, I have two. One is with Ellora's Cave, a very short paranormal romance called  Sporting Wood. The other is a novella in the Gaslight Chronicles steampunk romance with a moderate heat level, from Carina Press.

If either of those genres appeals to you, I encourage you to try one of my free reads and see if my style is to your taste. Both of these books are available from Amazon, All Romance e-Books, and Barnes & Noble, as well as other e-tailers and the publisher's site.

Sporting Wood
erotic Paranormal Romance
from Ellora's Cave

Blurb: What happens when a werewolf and a dryad meet in the forest at night? For Cooper and Kyla, the result is smoldering hot passion beyond anything they’ve ever known. Even though there’s no real future for a botany professor and a nymph who lives in a tree, Coop keeps returning, night after night, for the steamiest sex of his life. When their fiery passion turns to love, it seems hopeless, unless a determined Kyla can find a way to keep her man.

Excerpt: (PG-13)

Coop trotted along in wolf form through the wooded grove. To a human, this area deep in the heart of the Olympic Peninsula’s temperate rain forest would seem impenetrably dark, but to his senses it was awash in the silvery light of the full moon. He’d never ventured this far into the forest before, but he knew he’d be back. There was something elementally soothing about this grove—as if it had never been touched by the hand of man. All the tension of his day slipped away, even more so than it always did when he was able to shift and run through the moonlight. Here in the forest, he wasn’t Professor Marceski, constantly worried about maintaining his grant funding or getting that next paper published, and he wasn’t even Cooper, the werewolf. He just was.

He paused beside a particularly stunning red alder tree and lifted his leg.

“Don’t even think about it, Fido.”

That gave Cooper pause. He stood there, leg cocked, and studied the tree. Had it actually spoken to him, or was he more stressed-out than he’d realized after just finishing up his tenure approval?

“You heard me. Shoo. Go piss on somebody else.”

He yipped softly back, tipping his head from side to side.

“I know what you are. If you want to talk to me, fine, just project your thoughts, dummy. But first, go over in the bushes and relieve yourself. Don’t get any of that nasty stuff on my bark.”

The voice was decidedly feminine, if a little bit on the snarky side. Now that he thought about it, he could tell it was inside his head, not something he was hearing through his ears. Huh. Trees that could talk? While his scientific brain was processing the possibilities, he walked over to some huckleberry shrubs and took care of business. Then he went back and sat down in front of the alder tree.

What are you? Trees couldn’t talk. He was a botanist, damn it. He knew that.

A tree, you moron. You are a little slow, aren’t you?

The scruff of Coop’s neck stood up. He was considered a genius in scientific circles. He’d almost perfected a vaccine against Dutch elm disease, a breakthrough that could save thousands if not millions of trees a year. He was not a moron.

Really? Then why are you sitting on your butt, talking to a tree?

Blurb: Brighton, 1855

As a member of the Order of the Round Table, Kendall Lake is overqualified to b
e investigating strange phenomena at a seaside photography studio. But since the photographer is related to the Order’s most powerful sorcerer, Kendall reluctantly boards a dirigible to Brighton.

Amy Deland is haunted by a shadow that appears in some of her recent portraits. In each case, the subject died within days of the sitting. Does she have her grandmother’s gift of foresight, or has she somehow caused the deaths?

As Kendall and Amy search for answers, their investigation draws them together in a most improper way. But it seems the evil presence in the studio is determined to keep them apart…

Excerpt (PG):

They wove among the tourists and barrows and tents. “Sergeant Peterson built me a steam barrow to carry my equipment and a small canopy. It even has feet rather than wheels to accommodate the steps.”

“Very thoughtful of him.” Kendall’s tone was utterly neutral. “Are you and the sergeant…an item, perhaps?”

“What? No, of course not.” While Michael Peterson was a nice enough young man, and relatively attractive despite his missing arm, he was far too…traditional for Amy’s taste. He’d hinted in that direction a time or two, but she knew he’d never tolerate a wife or even a lady friend with a profession of her own. “Whatever gave you that idea?”

“Just something in his demeanor. Whether you believe so or not, the man has a definite interest in you, Amy.”

“I’ve never given him any reason to. I’m not looking for a husband—or a lover, for that matter. Certainly not unless I find one who understands my need to work.”

“Your photography is a part of you—not just the way you make your living—is that what you mean?” He spoke as if he actually understood. “I’ve a cousin who’s a concert pianist. She feels much the same way. Her husband has learned to cope, so I imagine there are other males out there who can adapt.”

“If you happen across one, send him to Brighton,” she replied. “But I’m not going to hold my breath. I’m happy with my life the way it is.” Except—in the last few hours, she’d realized there were parts of the male-female relationship she wouldn’t mind exploring further. Kendall Lake did something funny to her insides in a way no other man ever had. He made her think of things, wish for things, that could certainly never be. He was a marquess, for heaven’s sake, and the heir to a dukedom. No good could come of imagining herself in his arms, his lips upon hers.

Every girl needs a good laugh

I thought I'd share some cute jokes today. Okay, some are a tad naughty. (hehe)
~ Casey Crow

I'm thinking, though, a male came up with the first one, but the females take revenge with the last one!

MORNING SEX

She was standing in the kitchen preparing to
boil eggs for breakfast, wearing only
the 'T' shirt that she normally slept in.

As I walked in almost awake, she turned and said softly,
'You've got to make love to me this very moment.'

My eyes lit up and I thought, 'I am either
still dreaming or this is going to be my lucky day.'

Not wanting to lose the moment, I embraced
her and then gave it my all; right there on the kitchen table.

Afterwards she said, 'Thanks,' and returned to the stove,
her 'T' shirt still around her neck.

A little puzzled, I asked, 'What was that all about?'

She explained, 'The egg timer's broken.

*******

Q: Why are men better then women in reading maps?
A: Because only a man can look at 2.5 centimeters and imagine it to be a mile.

The Man Of The House...SMILE

A husband had just finished reading a new book entitled, 'You Can Be THE Man of Your House.

Finding new courage that he never knew he had, he stormed into the kitchen and announced to his wife, "From now on, you
need to know that I am the man of this house, and my word is the 'Law.' You will prepare me a gourmet meal tonight, bring it to me, and when I am done eating my meal, you will clear the dishes and serve me a scrumptious dessert.

After dinner, you are going to go upstairs with me and we will make love the way I want! Afterwards, you are going to draw
me a bath so I can relax. You will put on soothing music, wash my back, towel me dry, and bring me my robe.

You will massage my feet and hands to relieve any last bit of tension in me, so that I can sleep like a baby. Then, tomorrow,
guess who's going to dress me and comb my hair?

The wife replied, "The funeral director would be my first guess, unless I have your ass cremated."

The Pepper O'Malley Chronicles: Part 1

Like Pepper O’Malley, my computer programmer heroine in “Naked Sushi,” (Cosmo Red Hot Read from Harlequin Oct 2013), I worked in a male-dominated world.

Kids’ TV animation.

Shoot-em up, wild superheroes, crazy monsters, laser guns, battle scenes. You name it, I did it.

The funny thing is, the fans still remember.

In this raw footage from an interview I did for the M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armor Strike Command) DVD, I talk about any disadvantages being female on the show and also about writing scripts for TV and what it was like to work in that world.

What you'll see is "behind the scenes" footage of me being interviewed for "extras" in a complete set of episodes for the show. The "green" screen was later filled in with scenes from the cartoon show and sweetened with theme music for the DVD.

Questions? Ask away!

Ideas. Wherefore Art Thou, Ideas??

I've been busy plotting away today...okay plotting, yes. But "away"? Umm, not so much. It's slow going. To stir my creative pot, so to speak, I called one of my critique partners, Jessica Lee, and we started talking about story ideas and where they come from. For instance, the idea for the third book in her Ariel Estates series--which she just sold to her editor at Resplendence Publishing!!--came to her while she was eating a taco at Moe's. Apparently that "Welcome to Moe's!" really got those ideas in her head cooking--pun totally intended. The idea for Slave to Fashion by Debra Glass, my other critique partner, came to her while watching the fashion makeover show "What Not to Wear".

I've read where several authors have notebooks and notebooks full of ideas for future books. Can I just get one of those pages? Because my ideas are like my kids in school--smiley faces one day, straight faces the next. Totally unpredictable. And unfortunately, I can't bitch 'n complain to my imagination about "doing right". Stories come from the most unlikeliest places and at the oddest times. Like tonight, while trying to plot a romantic suspense, I had this really cool idea for a contemporary romance while watching The Voice. I started picturing this Jude/Tommy/night-and-day romance like on "Instant Star". Hey. Don't judge! It was a great show! Anyway, my heart started racing with excitement. And all because I saw Usher waltz with this contestant as he taught her to sing to the melody by dancing with her. I thought it was beautiful! And it had my love-o-meter chiming!

I don't think I can really beat out the Moe's restaurant for oddest times and places, but one of the weirdest places--or most inappropriate, depending which side of the fence you're on-- an idea came to me was during bible study. My pastor was teaching about the kinsman redeemer out of the book of Ruth. And suddenly...ding! If I'd been in a comic strip, I would've had a light bulb blinking over my head! What if Ruth was this Boudica-type heroine that followed Naomi back to her homeland and caught the eye of the king? That one's still in my "Story Idea" file waiting to be fleshed out but I thought it was so cool! Who knows when or if I'll write the story one day but I loved the idea... I did end up telling my pastor about it, and he wants me to make sure I spell his name right in the Acknowledgments...

My complete, undying adoration for Donnie Wahlburg inspired my second book, Love and Protect. One day I was going through my daughter's closet searching for a shoe that she "Couldn't find annyywheeere!" and found an old folder with all these pictures and articles I'd clipped out and saved from those old teen magazines. You remember them! Tiger Beat and Bop! God, I'm old... Anyway, I found this story I'd written when I was fourteen about him and me, how we met and fell in love. How he chose me over all those other groupies, I mean, girls. Sigh. It was awesome. And the idea for the rock star hero just formed...

Speaking of Love and Protect... *Cue Dolemite music here* It is available in print today at Ellora's Cave! Whoo-hoo!

Ex-DEA agent Erin Montgomery is reluctantly back on the job, posing as the sex-kitten groupie girlfriend of rock star Sean Ledger. She’ll be joining his band’s tour to try to catch an obsessed, dangerous fan. Tormented by nightmares of her failed last assignment, Erin’s not exactly eager to be drawn back into the fray. But once she meets Sean, all rocker, all man and dripping with raw sex appeal, she knows she’s right where she belongs.

Sean is reluctant to have someone investigating his crew, but when he meets Erin, his objections fly out the window. The beautiful, hard-bitten agent turns him on like no other woman ever has. Sean’s caught glimpses of the fiery passion lurking under Erin’s cool front and he’s determined to break through her hard exterior and make her his.

But Sean’s stalker is still at large and she’s made it clear that she’s willing to stop at nothing—even murder—to get him.
