Guest Blogger Lynn LaFleur! Contest!

Brace yourselves; we've scored Lynn LaFleur as a guest blogger! Stick around for a cool contest, too. Woo-Hoo!!

The Story Behind “Trouble in Boots”
by Lynn LaFleur

Last summer, I was at my hairdresser’s getting my hair dyed…uh, cut and styled, when I received a call from my agent. She wanted to know if I was interested in writing two novellas for Kensington Aphrodisia for upcoming anthologies—one firefighter story and one cowboy story. Such a silly question! Of course I wanted to write them.

So what to write about for the cowboy novella? Although I was born and raised in Texas, I’m far from a country gal. I know nothing about rodeos or ranching or anything to do with cattle, other than I like steak. Luckily I have a friend who used to have a lot of cattle, so I could use him as a resource.

After a conversation with my friend, I decided my hero would be a cattle rancher. I liked this idea because I think there’s something very sexy about a guy on a horse. My heroine would be a waitress in the local Western bar. Now that I had my characters, I had to come up with a way for these two to fall in love. I asked myself, what if they’ve secretly loved each other since high school, but circumstances have kept them apart? What if they can now be together, but different circumstances still interfere with their happiness?

The answer to those questions can be found in “Trouble in Boots” in the In a Cowboy’s Bed anthology, now available from Kensington Aphrodisia.

You can read the entire first chapter and sexy excerpt on my website: (first chapter) (excerpt)

Here we go! Lynn has graciously offered to give away a copy of the book to one lucky commenter, choice of ebook or print, ebook only if outside of the USA. To give her out of the country (our simply out of town!) readers a chance to participate, the contest will be open between now and Sunday, Aug. 4th at midnight, EST. Winner will be announced on Mon. the 5th. Simply leave Lynn a comment with your email.

Good Morning, ladies

Nothing I like better than a hot, sexy cowboy.

Haven't heard of Lynne's books before, but will definitely be looking into it now.

Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

What a fabulous excerpt! And it sounds like the rest of the story is a must read. I'm writing a cowboy hero (just putting on the final touches) and made him from a cattle ranch in TX too. One problem. I'm from Boston! LOL. Seriously. This character showed up and started drawlin'. I had to write him! You know how it is...

Anyway, would you mind answering one question or asking your resource to answer it for me? If you're game, my email is

Thanks, Lynn! Hugs!

Oh, Lynn, I love your books, I have a few of them.
Although I'm a total firefighter lover, I guess I can tt
room for a hottie cowboy, as long as he wears his jeans
nice and tight so we ladies can see his long muscled legs..

Com'on ladies.. get your minds out of the gutter..

I've been a fan of Lynn for years. This looks to be more strain for my poor budget, but worth the sacrifice.
