A Doctor's Touch

As you read this I am traveling back from Romanticon, hopefully with a few pics to post in the future. So I'll cut short my blog post today and urge you to watch this inspiring TED.com video below. Although it's not directly related to writing, not only is the doctor speaking a writer himself, and with a speech that has some interesting historical nuggets about doctors which might be good fodder for writers of historicals, but he's talking about the power of connection. It's one of my favorite topics and I'd argue that even though we write in rooms far, far away from our readers, we are encouraging connection in our stories on many levels. We are "touching" from a distance.

So enjoy.

I think this is another reason why social media is so important for writers! It can be so lonely sitting at the keyboard day after day.

Excellent video on so many levels, Michelle. Thanks for sharing and "touching" us all by doing so.

Thanks for watching. It's important to reach out and touch each other, and it doesn't even have to be dirty :)
