Movies!

I like movies, but right now I have some issues with the people making them so I've decided to write an letter to Hollywood.

Dear Hollywood,

Enough with the 3-D movies already. Most movies don't even require 3-D glasses. Nothing even jumps out at you. Which makes me wonder if this isn't some sort of conspiracy to make us look silly by sitting in the movie theatre with hideous yellow glasses on. Oh, and charging us extra to make us look silly? Not cool.

While I'm thinking about it, I might as well just go ahead and ask. Don't you have any original ideas? I guess not, since you have to remake such classics like Dirty Dancing, Footloose, Top Gun and Romancing the Stone. Really?

So, go back to 2-D movies and use some imagination!

Sincerely,
An Avid Moviewatcher!

Amen! Soon the glasses are going to programmed to play commercials targeted specifically at the wearer based on their profiles as well. As far as creativity, that hasn't happened in quite some time in Hollywood. That's why we have to keep writing books.

I'm so with you on this. When they aren't remaking classics, they look to TV to make movies out of popular shows or sometimes nostalgic ones. How about making more movies out of romance books? ;-)

Michelle - Commercials! Yikes, that'd be scary! And they'd probably charge even more! And I agree about writing books!

Wynter - I'm so with you on that! There are so many books that would make awesome movies!

How can they do a remake of Dirty Dancing? How??? It's sacrilegious, making another DD so soon after Patrick Swayze's death. And I'm totally sick of the remakes, too. Surely there must be thousands of great scripts sitting on an agent's/producer's desk in Hollywood right now. What gives?

And I'm puzzled about the 3D thing too. We pay about $3 extra per ticket to see a 3D movie, but the effects aren't all that thrilling. Mostly we go to them because our little guys think wearing the glasses is extra awesome, but I'd just as soon save the money.

Guess what, everyone--James Cameron's TITANIC returns to theaters April 2012 in 3-D!!

Can you guys imagine experiencing the sinking of the ship in 3-D?

Wow - that's going to be amazing, Jina.

Re: Titanic in 3-D: you're so right, Wynter, amazing! It's costing $18 million to do the conversion.

Titanic in 3-D hits theatres on April 6, 2012.

I can totally see redoing Titanic in 3D!
Wait, when did they announce they're redoing Top Gun, and why?

Dalton - I've been hearing about Top Gun for a while.
