The Blonde Samurai speaks Spanish

I had an exciting day recently when my mail lady delivered seven (7) boxes of foreign editions of my Spice novels.

Italian, German, Spanish and Polish.

Amazing how the Harlequin brand is so international!

What I find really interesting is how the titles change with various translations.

Since we're discussing the Spanish editions today, I'll talk about my books that have been translated into Spanish for Spain, Mexico, Chile, Latin America and Argentina:

The Blonde Geisha became "Fantasías escondidas" or Hidden Fantasties.

Naughty Paris became "Placer en París" or Pleasure in Paris.

Cleopatra's Perfume became "El perfume de Cleopatra" or The Perfume of Cleopatra.

And:

The Blonde Samurai has just been released in Spanish as "Placer Orientalor Oriental Pleasure.

So for all my Spanish-speaking readers, here is the blurb from the Harlequin Spain site:

A big “thank you” to the international Harlequin team who puts together the foreign editions and sends them to the authors!

That must very exciting! I attended a workshop at the RWA National conference on positioning your books for re-releases in foreign countries. You seem to have mastered that! Congratulations!

I really enjoy reading through my stories in another language--trying to pick up the nuances, etc. of what I wrote in Spanish, French, German and Italian. I'm even learning Polish!

Wynter, thankz for the compliment, but all the credit goes to Harlequin's foreign rights department in Toronto and New York and the fabulous editors overseas (esp. my good friend Alessandra Bazardi in Milano, Italy). They do a fabulous job!

That cover is just as beautiful in Spanish as it is in English! Congratulations on the multi-lingual (is that a word? LOL!) editions!! That's awesome!

Thank you, Naima, for the congrats re: foreign editions. I also want to mention the wonderfully talented translators who take my words and turn them into elegant prose in so many languages. Thank you!

It's funny how they have to change certain words that become not-so-innocent in translation. I remember a friend who went to England and couldn't understand why everyone looked at her funny when she mentioned her "fanny pack."

You're right, Dalton. It's amazing how we share a common language with England that can be so different!
