Reconnected With a High School Friend on Facebook and Found Out She Writes Erotic Romance, Too!

How cool is that?!

We were really good friends back in high school, but we kind of got out of touch after we both graduated and went off to do our own thing. Well, I was online the other day and I come across her Facebook page, so I sent her a friend request and add a little message with it, saying I don't know if you remember me, but we went to high school together and used to pass notes back and forth in biology class. She PM'd me back saying she does remember me and that it's so cool to reconnect and that she's an erotic romance author with LooseId under the name Tere Michaels! We both wanted to be writers back in high school and I think it's so cool that we're both actually doing it!

Gotta love the internet!

Funny how you were drawn to each other back then and both achieved your goals of becoming writers.

Michelle - It certainly is amazing! We've been emailing and catching up, so it's really nice!

Cara - LOL! Maybe!

Wynter - Isn't it?! LOL! Since we've been emailing, we've discovered we still have a lot in common now!

That's fantastic! What a rare and serendipitous occurrence.

So far, anyone I thought might be an old friend on-line has just been someone else with the same name.

Lucky you!

Ash - LOL! I almost thought that when I sent her a freid request, but luckily she had her pic on her FB page, so I recognized her!

That is very cool Paige! Both of you are following your dreams and succeding. Facebook is awesome for finding that friend you thought you would never reconnect with again.

Paige, how exciting for you! There's got to be a story in there somewhere...two high school friends (only let's make them a girl and a guy) find each other again on Facebook and one of them writes erotic novels and the other is...that's where you let your imagination go to work!

Mai - I thought it was very cool too! It's great catching up with her!

Savannah - Totally!

Dalton - I think I've talked her into going to Lori Foster's!

Jina - Now that is cool! Cann I borrow your idea?! LOL1

Paige,

To make that thought more complex, consider my delimma. Many of my old high school friends are on FB (reconnected after more than a decade), as is my family, BUT did I mention it was a United Penecostal high school (class of 21 students)? Very, very conservative. They don't even know I cut my hair! I realized that if I wanted to "grow up" online, I'd need to either: A. create a separate, untraceable Google and FB identity and start looking for friends from scratch (so that current friends don't blow it to my mother) or B. own up to being an adult woman with her own thoughts, feelings, beliefs and needs. Yeah, you're right, it's a good thing Google doesn't card. :) I wonder what ever did happen to my high school crush...

TTFN.
Nova

PS: If you ever run out of plot ideas, I can always share my day!

Nova - LOL! Thanks for the offer! I'm glad that she's a writer, too, so that way I don't have to wonder what she'd think when I told her I write erotic romance! And although I wouldn't say I came from an overly conservative high school, I do get weird reactions from people when I say what I write, which is why I just say I write romance now! It's easier!

That's really cool...connecting with someone to find they do the same thing as you. I try to think about high school friends and it must be a sign of my age...can't hardly recall a name or a face. If I went to a reunion, I'd feel they were all strangers.

Paige Tyler said...

Brenda - Yeah, it is cool! Glad I caught up with her.

When I reconnected with friends on FB, they all turned out to be really conservative. They don't read erotic romance, let alone write it. So I didn't tell them I'm an erotic romance author.

Cara - I hear ya! When I first saw her on FB, I didn't know she was a writer, too, so I knew I was kinda tkaing a chance by sending her a friend request! LOL!
