There's Something About That Voice...

At night I fight crime and of course write smoking hot erotic romance, but during the day I have a regular job just like (almost) everyone else. Fighting crime doesn't always pay the bills, what can I say :) Without going into detail about what I do b/c it would likely bore you to death, yesterday this man called to reorder something and OMG, his voice. It was deep, strong, and my heart rate tripled mighty quick just listening to that goodness. I should preface this by saying that I'm a vera happily married woman, but good Lord that man's voice should be illegal. What he needed to reorder was out of warranty but I gave him a discount anyway, lol! Plus, he was incredibly polite on the phone and I deal w/ jerks half the time, so a sexy voice and manners? Yummy!

I experience the same giddy feeling every time I hear Sean Connery speak. There's something about that rich voice and distinguished accent. Who knows, maybe it's biology but a strong male voice is one of the first things I notice about a man. Second, it's usually his hands, his mouth, then eyes, then shoulders and arms (btw, that picture above of Vin is for you Naima...okay, and for myself). I could keep going but I think you have an idea of which direction I'm headed in. The voice reels me in, but if a man is good with his hands...yes please.

What about y'all? Is there something specific about a man that drives you wild? It can be something totally non-sexual. Give me the details!

And, I have to give you something to look forward to AFTER the weekend! On Monday, the lovely Naima Simone has a free read available from Ellora's Cave! If you've read Sweet Ultimatum (and if you haven't what are you waiting for??), then you're probably looking forward to Desire in the Dark as much as me! It's Mac and Alise's story and um, it's FREE! Doesn't get much better than that ;)

Have a great weekend everyone!!

hmm. repost!

i'm totally with you on the voice thing. there's a (married, darnit) guy that stays at my hotel who's originally from australia...? i think... and OMG, i fall all over myself every time he's here.

i'm also a sucker for a nice, friendly smile. and eyes. oh, nice, bright eyes... those are my triggers.

one day there was this UBER sexy guy that checked in to my hotel, and he only used the room for about 3 hours. he was tall, toned, had a really sexy deep radio voice (he's a DJ for a local station) and was just really good looking. when he left, i gave him half-price on the room (you know, cause he only stayed a few hours...yeah...that's why...). he was extremely nice. if i weren't happily attached...

I'm all over the voice thing. Nine times out of ten I prefer male to female singers probably for this reason alone. Although I wonder what the stats are for guys about the percentage of singers they prefer that are male versus female? My other favorites on guys are facial structure and shoulder blades.

Sigh.

I'm a sucker for a sexy voice, too. And an accent - don't get me started. But the thing that gets me more than anything else is a great sense of humor. A man who makes me laugh is the sexiest thing going.

This is where I predictably scream Alan Rickman! ALAN RICKMAN!!! until I collapse a lung.

But aside from panty-peeling voices, I've got a major weak spot for tired eyes. Like, weary-looking eyes that make a man look as though he just fought his way through the wilderness to get to me. This usually involves some crows' feet and perhaps darker skin around the eye, but the clincher is that little poochy squinchy lower lid action. Tried eyes have got me crushing on many an otherwise unremarkable man.

Celeb-wise, Alan Rickman's got tired eyes (he's a double threat!), as does foxy survival show host Les Stroud (my husband's sick to death of hearing about my "back-up boyfriend"), BSG space-fox Tahmoh Penikett, Vince Vaughn, Elvis Costello, and the crown-prince of the tired-eyed dreamboats, British comedian Julian Barratt of the Mighty Boosh (his voice don't hurt either—Lord, take me home to Yorkshire).

Lol lexcade!

Michelle - I agree! The one male singer I can't get enough of is Barry White. Sadly he's deceased but that's another voice that makes me think bad bad things.

Wynter, I know which accent you like best too! (French, I'm pretty sure). For me, it's Scottish.

Cara - that's totally quirky and I love it!

I love deep voices, especially if they come with an accent. Irish, Scottish, Aussie or Southern. Yum. I love listening to Gerard Butler, and Cara's right--Alan Rickman. OMG, I love Alan Rickman's voice. Especially when he plays Snape in the Harry Potter movies, because he really gets to play it up.

Other than that, I'm an eye woman. Nothing sexier than a pair of warm, intelligent eyes staring at you, especially when they smolder.

Eyes are the sexiest thing on a man, followed by his smile and his hands. They have to be big hands, with long, strong fingers and he has to keep them very well groomed. No long fingernails! Maybe it's weird, but that's a major turn-off for me. Blech.

My hubby has the best hands ever, and I've told him more than once he should have been a hand model :)

Oh yes, the eyes have it! Dh has light green eyes. Yummy.
You know what, tho? Everything visual can and does disappear with the years. Personality, humor, intelligence - those are forever.

Except tired-looking eyes! They just gets better and better!

You're a lucky woman Kaylea! Hands are a close second to voice ;)

Dalton, of course all that stuff matters, lol. I definitely didn't marry my hubby for his voice. Though it didn't hurt in my decision... ;)

Cara - your tired eyes fascination seriously cracks me up!

Savannah, did I neglect to mention that DH also played bass and sang backup in a band? Nice, er, voice ;)

That settles it, Savannah. One of these weeks I will just have to dedicate an entire post to my weary-eyed-man fetish.

Lol Dalton!

I'm going to be waiting expectantly, Cara! ;)

Oh yes, a sexy voice gets me going too. I also have this thing about hands. I love rough, callused hands touching my body. *drool* Drives me NUTS!

As we say in Italy, "la voce, la voce, la..." well, you get the idea. A man's sexy voice is a total turn-on especially when he's speaking a foreign language.
