Please, honey ... just put on the mask.

Zorro ... Phantom Of The Opera ... Batman ... *happy content sigh* I suppose since we're all adults here it would be safe for me to admit to my costume fetish. Honestly, I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the many times I've watched these movies just so I can drool over the men in flowing black capes and black masks. First and foremost, it's erotic as hell, but there's also the intrigue and sense of danger that gets me going every time.

So yesterday, when I finally received the cover to my upcoming Loose Id release, Enough, I broke out into an uncontrollable fit of estatic clapping and yelling. (Scared the heck out of my poor dog, Amber). I couldn't be happier with the way Anne Cain designed it because she really brought my "masked stranger" fantasy to life. In Enough, my heroine, Morgan, is seduced by a man dressed in solid black - shirt, pants, cape, boots, mask - the whole nine yards. He never reveals his identity, but it's okay because that's the way she wanted it. Forget sharing names. All Morgan wants is the mystery and the excitement, and she definitely gets that. (Lucky woman!)

But anyway, back to the topic at hand. I'm curious to know if any of you out there are drawn to movies and books with costumed characters. (And I mean real people, not cartoons, because that's just wrong on so many levels. LOL)

While I wait on your answers, I'm going to go back to my worn out Phantom Of The Opera DVD and do somemore swooning over Gerard Butler in his sexy black cape and mask.

Ahhh yes ... life is good.

I have to admit a soft spot for batman films. LOL. That black outfit, the mask, the deep voice... LOL. Doesn't matter which actor played him... LOVED the mask and costume. LOL. Congrats on the great cover and the upcoming book!!!

Oh man, I'm so boring! I can understand the appeal, but for me a man's sexiest costume is something dirty that screams good old manual labor. Dusty jeans, beat-up boots, tee-shirt, maybe a button-up workshirt. I like my men working-class, and I just can't imagine a guy in a mask and cape throwing down in a real-life bar fight (despite all those well-choreographed movie stunts.) But it's certainly a striking visual!

Oh, plus a mask would hide his three days' worth of stubble! Damn, I'm just not built for glamour and mystery.

I love the mystique of the mask, too. Masked men are perfect - no wrinkles or scars or anything but imagination. Congrats on the terrific cover!

Masked men, yum! I love Batman. He's one of my top two male superheroes. The other being Wolverine, but we all know the reason for that. Masks lend mystery and you don't have to have the exact picture in your head of the sexy fella. Your imagination can work overtime. Anticipation can be built. It's kind of why a man in clothes (albeit hopefully very few) can be more exciting than one completely naked. Okay, I won't go overboard insisting on this, but you know what I mean. And for more cerebral reasons masks are fantastic because they symbolize so much. The idea of having multiple identities, multiples pieces to ourselves. The idea of hiding and the promise of an unveiling of our truest selves.

The cover is ALL THAT with that mask. Congratulations!

That's one of the reasons I love V for Vendetta so much. Apart from the strong message of the movie, I love the masked hero :)

It's not a mask but it is make-up that hides who he really is...remember The Crow with Brandon Lee? Oh he was sooooo sexy! Not to mention the black leather pants and form-fitting shirt. *sigh*

Snake Eyes in the GI Joe Movie...my husband last night...oops! Did I say that out loud??

I dunno, Laurann, I'm thinking it's more about Batman's codpiece. One look at that sucker had me wondering, what mask?
