Snow at Disney World...And We Ran a Half-Marathon In It!

Just got back from Walt Disney World, where it is was freezing degrees! My hubby and I kept checking the weather report before we went and every time we did, it just got colder. When they showed snow, sleet and freezing rain for the morning of the half-marathon, we couldn't believe it, but we figured we better wear a few extra layers anyway. Well, we get up at 2:15 AM, yes I said AM, to grab a bagel and catch the bus to Epcot, where the race started, and sure enough, it was freezing cold and snowing! Okay, so we don't usually run if it's too cold, but we signed up, so we were going to run it and we did! We wore three shirts, including an Under Armour Cold Gear one, a zip-up hoodie, and wore two pairs of running pants! Honestly, the snow wasn't that bad, but when it turned to sleet, then freezing rain about two miles into the run, that wasn't really too fun. I mean, we had fun, but I could have done without the wintry mix, thank you very much! LOL!

Good for you for persevering through that! As a fellow Floridian, I can say I'm practically allergic to cold. I'm impressed that you braved the rare elements!

That would be considered a warm day around here!

A half-marathon is impressive!! Yeah, we had a pretty bad cold snap here in Florida but it's not the norm, I swear :)

Wynter - LOL! Thanks! We live in Florida, too, so I'm totally a warm-weather girl like you. But it was Disney, so we had to do it! LOL! did I mention I'm a Disney-girl, too!

Dalton - Yikes! LOL!

Katie - LOL! Like I mentioned to Wynter, we live in Florida, too, and whenever it gets colder than 70, I'm like what's the heck is up with this weather?! My hubby laughs and says that I forget how cold it can get here sometimes! LOL!

I'm on the other coast and it's been raining for days! I admire your spunk, Paige; it's representative of a true heroine in one of your books! Congrats on a super accomplishment.

You're amazing for doing this. Although I wonder if it was still better to run in too cool weather than overly hot. I couldn't do it in either. Great job!

Michelle - LOL! Thanks! Actually, they do the ent in the winter becuase running a marathon in the hot weather can be extremely dangerous. However, I much prefer milder temps!

Stephanie - I'm not so sure you would have liked it. Whhile it sounds fun in theory, in reality, the weather was way too cold to hang around outside at any of the parks. Then again, I'm a beach girl, so I'm not much for cold weather! LOL!

Paige, I bow down because you CAN run a marathon! Good God I have to berate myself just to get up and do rebound aerobics 2 mornings a week! LOL!

And then to run it in the snow, sleet and rain?? You are my hero, Paige! But really...who would've thought winter at Disney? That's just not right! LOL!

Congratulations for persevering and going through with it. You rock!
